Knysna • George • HermanusDue to client feed back and the success of this year’s tour, we will continue to offer the fully escorted Round South African tour in a three module format. We hope that by splitting the tour into three we will appeal to a broader spectrum of golfer and allow more flexibility. By dividing the tour we can accommodates those of you who wish to participate on all three modules, covering most of South Africa, or give you a choice of taking a shorter guided tour of say one module and possibly add on a few additional nights either end of your holiday, for a more relaxed programme. The dramatic scenic contrast of the Garden Route attracts the first time visitor to South Africa. From the white-sandy beaches and native forests of the Tsitsikamma to the shimmering waters of Knysna Lagoon and the majestic Outeniqua Mountains, a visit to this region is a must. This part of the tour has a relaxed pace giving you enough time to enjoy each location. All golfing is on premier courses, all have spectacular views and are challenging in their own way. Friday 5th FebruaryOn arrival in George, you will be met and transferred to Knysna and the newly opened Simola Hotel for a six nights stay. Set high in the hills above Knysna, Simola commands an awesome view of the entire surroundings, taking in rolling green hills and valleys and a vast shimmering blue expanse of the Knysna Lagoon leading to the famous Knynsa Heads etched on the horizon. 6 nights at the Simola Hotel & Spa including breakfast. Saturday 6th FebruaryGolf at Simola; the first Jack Nicklaus Signature course on the Garden Route, Simola reflects the great maestro's philosophy of attuning the layout and design to the natural lie of the land. Keeping your head down at Simola can be a challenge; simply because the views around the course are awe-inspiring, it is clear to see why Simola takes its place as one of South Africa's premier golfing destinations. Sunday 7th FebruaryFull day tour to Plettenberg Bay and the Tsitsikamma. We will be taking a scenic drive via Plettenberg Bay to the Tsitsikamma Forest, Storms River bridge and Natures Valley. Monday 8th FebruaryGolf at Pezula; situated on the rolling hills between the Knysna lagoon and the rocky cliffs of the Indian Ocean. The area known as the East Heads has become the site of 18 spectacular championship holes of golf. The Scottish "links style" course; designed by Ronald Fream and David Dale, features cool-season grasses and five different tee placements to satisfy, challenge and reward all golfers. Tuesday 9th FebruaryToday you have the option of golf at Simola or a trip to the town of Knysna, time to explore the interesting shops, have a light lunch and take a trip on the John Ben Ferry to Knysna Heads. Wednesday 10th FebruaryGolf at Plettenberg Bay Country Club; the main attraction to this course being the challenging layout built to USGA specifications and rated 32 in South Africa. Set in a nature reserve, the indigenous flora attracts a large variety of bird life and small animals like antelope and bush pig, etc. The site has also become popular with the local bird-watching club and is home to a large colourful bird known as the Knysna Loerie. Thursday 11th FebruaryAfter breakfast, you will be transferred from Knysna to George where you will spend the next five nights at The Fancourt Golf Estate Hotel and Spa. A combination of Old World charm and contemporary luxuries makes the Fancourt Hotel so distinctive and one of the most sort after golfing venues in South Africa. Located in the town of George at the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains, theestate houses four golf courses, all renowned for their amazing year round conditions. 5 nights at the Fancourt Golf Estate Hotel & Spa including breakfast. Friday 12th FebruaryGolf on the Montagu course. The Montagu is a much celebrated parkland course and has been ranked as the number-one golf course in South Africa in the past. It has recently undergone major renovations with several holes being redesigned and has two completely new holes – the 1st and the 9th. Saturday 13th FebruaryGolf on the Outeniqua course. The Outeniqua is a majestic 18-hole Parkland layout designed by legendary Grand Slam golfer Gary Player. It is similar in character to The Montagu and its challenging design and fine conditioning will ensure an excellent test for all levels of golfers. Sunday 14th FebruaryToday we take a spectacular drive over the Outeniqua Mountain Pass, entering the red semi-desert of the Little Karoo to Oudtshoorn. We start with a short tour of the town and then go on to the Cango Caves, thereafter visiting the Cango Wildlife Ranch and then continue on to the Safari Ostrich Farm to see one of the world’s most spectacular birds. We return to Fancourt in the late afternoon. Monday 15th FebruaryGolf at Oubaai; Oubaai promises a golfing experience comparable to the best the world has to offer. Bordered by a river valley, the clear, warm water of the Indian Ocean and woodlands, Oubaai presents the perfect site for this championship golf course. Tuesday 16th FebruaryThis morning we head for Hermnaus, making our way from George via Mossel Bay and several little towns along the famous Garden Route. We will make a stop for some lunch in Swellendam and continue on to the Arabella Western Cape Hotel and Spa for a four night stay. Located just a twenty minute drive from whale watchers haven of Hermanus, The Arabella Western Cape Hotel and Spa boasts the internationally acclaimed Arabella Spa, a variety of dining and entertainment options and home to the award winning 18-hole championship golf course which is ranked number two in South Africa. 4 nights at The Arabella Western Cape Hotel and Spa including breakfast. Wednesday 17th FebruaryGolf at the Arabella Golf Club. Designed by Peter Matkovich, this course compliments the environment without disappointing the golfer, whether expert or amateur. Why not spend the afternoon enjoying the wonderful hotel spa. Thursday 18th FebruaryGolf at Hermanus Golf Club; this course offers the keen golfer 18 incredible holes of golf. Over the years the Hermanus course has become one of the most popular courses to play in the area and a - definite "must play" course. Afternoon tour of the quant little town of Hermanus and return to Arabella in the late afternoon. Arabella Pezula Horse Riding. Natures Valley Friday 19th FebruaryGolf at Arabella Golf Club. Saturday 20th FebruaryWe depart from Arabella. You have the option to continue with this tour as per Module 3 OR transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight home.
