ITINERARY October/November 2010 Day 1: Wednesday 20th OctoberDepart early evening from London Heathrow on South African Airways overnight direct flight to Johannesburg. Day 2: Thursday 21st OctoberArrive Johannesburg and take a connecting flight to George. You will be met on arrival and transferred via Knysna to Plettenberg Bay. We will send 6 nights at Emily Moon River Lodge, an exclusive boutique Guest House offering luxurious suites is separate chalets, with their own sitting areas, private viewing decks, dressing rooms and spacious fully appointed bathroom. All have breathtaking views of the valley below. Their restaurant produces superb meals and there is a small bar area. The stylish elegance of the rooms, the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings as well as the welcoming and personal service of the hosts makes this one of South Africa's most select destinations. Day 3: Friday 22nd OctoberGolf at Plettenberg Bay Country Club; the main attraction to this course being the challenging layout built to USGA specifications and rated 32 in South Africa. Set in a nature reserve, the indigenous flora attracts a large variety of bird life and small animals like antelope and bush pig, etc. The site has also become popular with the local bird-watching club and is home to a large colourful bird known as the Knysna Loerie. Day 4: Saturday 23rd OctoberGolf at Simola; the first Jack Nicklaus Signature course on the Garden Route. Simola reflects the great maestro’s philosophy of attuning the layout and design to the natural lie of the land. Keeping your head down at Simola can be a challenge; simply because the views around the course are awe-inspiring, it is clear to see why Simola takes its place as one of South Africa's premier golfing destinations. PM tour of Knysna. Take a stroll around the quant town with its multitude of fascinating craft shops and art galleries. Day 5: Saturday 24th OctoberFree day to explore Plett village or enjoy a day on the beach. Or Optional Ocean Safaris boat excursion – view the Bottlenose, Humpback and common dolphins, Bryde's, Southern Right and Humpback whales. Add this to a colony of Cape Fur Seals and a multitude of birds and sharks and you have the "best safari by far". Proceeds from all tours support research and environmental education, in line with their motto: "Observe & Conserve". Day 6: Monday 25th OctoberGolf at Goose Valley; the course was designed by Gary Player and is situated in pristine surroundings, only 2km from Plettenberg Bay and bordering on the Keurbooms Lagoon. Golfers will experience breathtaking views of the lagoon, the ocean and the Tsitsikamma Mountains, also the beauty of the natural fynbos, trees and an abundance of animal and bird life. Day 7: Tuesday 26th OctoberAfter breakfast, you will be transferred from Plettenberg Bay to Stellenbosch where you will spend the next four nights at The Zorg Vliet Estate. Zorgvliet Wine Estate is nestled in the beautiful Banhoek Valley near Stellenbosch overlooking majestic mountains and rolling vineyards. Zorgvliet boasts award winning wines, 5 star vineyard lodge accommodation and two very good restaurants. Here you can experience what living on a working wine farm is all about or you can simply indulge in the consumption of the fruit of the vine. 4 nights at ZorgVliet Suites including breakfast. Day 8: Wednesday 27th OctoberGolf at De Zalze; another Peter Matkovich designed course, set amongst the De Zalze Winelands with the most stunning setting and a course that places a premium on accuracy. De Zalze’s fairways are surrounded by vineyards, olive groves & lavender fields, which will all produce marketable crops for the Kleine Zalze Estate. Day 9: Thursday 28th OctoberFull day tour of the Cape Winelands. Visit the wine growing areas of Paarl and Franschhoek, a stop will be made for lunch and to explore the area on foot. Some time will be spent in the quaint village of Franschhoek before heading back to Zorgvliet. Day 10: Friday 29th OctoberGolf at Boschenmeer Golf and Country Estate; this course was designed by South African golfer David Frost. It is the only 27-hole golf course in the Western province, and the first David Frost signature golf course in South Africa. Day 11: Saturday 30th OctoberAfter breakfast we make our way to Cape Town to the Winchester Mansions Hotel for a six nights stay. The Winchester Mansions, an elegant Cape Dutch style property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is situated in Sea Point just a few minutes from the bustling V & A Waterfront and has a reputation for outstanding service. 6 nights at Winchester Mansions including breakfast. Day 12: Sunday 31st OctoberFull day tour of Cape Town city, including a trip up Table Mountain by cable car and an optional trip across the bay to Robben Island. Day 13: Monday 1st NovemberGolf at Milnerton Golf Club; Milnerton is surrounded by natural beauty, the course is a pleasure to the senses and a challenge to even the most experienced golfer. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the RietVlei River, this lush links-type course is relatively flat with few trees. Day 14: Tuesday 2nd NovemberGolf at Royal Cape; the oldest club in South Africa. It was given its Royal title in 1910 after a visit by the Duke of Connaught. The course is essentially a flat parkland course, with lovely views of the surrounding mountains. The narrow fairways demand extreme accuracy off the tee, wayward shots are penalised by trees and the greens are well bunkered. Day 15: Wednesday 3rd NovemberFree day or optional golf. Day 16: Thursday 4th NovemberFull day tour to Hermanus, We travel into the Overberg region via spectacular Sir Lowry’s Pass which offers stunning views of False Bay. Once in Hermanus we take the scenic drive along The Rotary Drive, high up over Hermanus. From here you’ll be able to take wonderful photographs of Walker Bay. Take a stroll along the cliffs, through the craft markets and Art Galleries. After a leisurely lunch we head back towards Cape Town along an unforgettable coastal drive. Farewell Dinner and prize giving. Day 17: Friday 5th NovemberA final free day to relax prior to your evening flight back to the UK.
