Boardsailing, Windsurfing, Sandboarding & Kite Surfing
South Africa has some of the best windsurfing and kite surfing
in the world. There are a number of good spots all along the coast but
Langebaan, near Cape Town, is fast becoming an international and boardsailing
and kite surfing mecca.
South Africa has also got some of the best and least crowded beaches
anywhere in the world. Durban is the main centre, but surfing is possible
along most of the coastline.
There are surf schools all along the coast,
particularly in and around Durban, at Jeffreys Bay, along the Garden
Route and in Cape Town. Surfboards can be rented in most coastal cities
and many second hand shops, where you can by a board for the duration
of your stay and re-sell if when you leave.
Unlike surfing and snow boarding, sand boarding is easy to learn and
accessible to beginners so adrenaline is just a slide away. You can sand
board in several scenic spots in Namibia.
