Seychelles
These islands are exquisite. They're scattered across the sparkling
sea like emeralds, each edged with sugar white sand and densely vegetated.
Unique to the granitic islands of the Seychelles are the grey rocks with
their feet in the limpid water, their bodies rounded and smoothed by
millennia of wind and rain. Long-tailed tropical birds and Paradise Flycatchers
fly over the canopy of Takamaka trees. On Praslin, Coco de Mer palms
make love to each other in the moonlight - or so legend has it.
Mahe
is the main island, and is spectacularly beautiful. Mountain of soaring
rocks tower over the coast, and winding roads snake up the cliffs before
disappearing in to the mist. Beau Vallon beach is spectacular.
A favourite
is the island of Praslin, where you'll find exquisite beaches , a primeval
forest which is unique in the world and a World Heritage site to boot.
The real glory of the Seychelles lies in the beauty and diversity of
the outer islands, though, where you will find little lodges and inns
waiting to welcome you.
The Island of Desroches offers quite spectacular
beaches; Alphonse offers world-class fly fishing, deep sea fishing, snorkelling
and diving and Bird Island , a unique environment, where two million Sooty
Tern birds land each evening to rest on a field the size of a football
pitch.
Climate : Temperatures are a fairly constant 29 degrees through
out the year.October to May is Monsoon Season with high humidities. June
to September are the nicest months. Rains in January and February, but
no cyclones.
