Mozambique - Zongoene Lodge
Dates available throughout 2008
Sandwiched
between Tanzania to the north and South Africa to the south, Mozambique
has the longest coastline of all East African countries, and it offers
some truly marvellous blue water sports fishing from both beach and boat.
ZONGOENE LODGE
This paradise location nestles beside the mouth of the
Limpopo River (also good brackish and freshwater fishing) where it empties
into the Indian Ocean, with the lodge a mere 100 yards from the extensive
sandy beach. Guests here go beach fishing by Kawasaki quad bikes, with
all the necessary tackle and baits provided for catching black tip and
bull sharks, king mackerel‚ bluefish, kob, jacks, stingrays, and
trevally etc. There is simply mile upon mile of virgin, wilderness shoreline
to explore with the help of experienced guides.
The lodge operates two
excellent boats -a 25 footer pushed along by twin Yamaha 115s, which
fishes four guests, and a 30 footer sporting twin 225 Mariner engines,
which accommodates six. Both boats troll for sailfish, wahoo, barracuda,
tuna, queen mackerel and king mackerel etc, and bottom fish for big Limpopo
groupers, giant trevally, javelin grunters, ragged tooth and grey reef
sharks, plus a whole bunch of weird and wonderful, beautifully coloured,
hard battling species. Other regular sights here are humpback dolphins
and turtles. All tackle is provided.
Winter here is from May through
till August, and the peak summer season (best fishing time) is from November
through 'till April.
