This tour has become one of the most popular with our regular clients. We have included stays in some of the most luxurious hotels in each of the major tourist destinations of South Africa, making this a great introduction tour for the first time visitor.

ITINERARY: January - February 2008
(year round self-drive option available)

Day 1: Thursday 24th January
Depart early evening from London Heathrow, Terminal 1, on South African Airways direct flight to Johannesburg.

Day 2: Friday 25th January
Arrive Johannesburg and transfer by coach to Irene Country Lodge, situated close to Pretoria in the historic village of Irene, the rustic charm of the lodge awaits you. The rooms have been gracefully designed in an English Country Manor style and all face onto the nearby lake. Afternoon at leisure P.M. Welcome cocktail party. 4 nights at Irene Country Lodge including breakfast.

Day 3: Saturday 26th January
Full day tour of the city of Pretoria, visiting the home of the government headquarters and numerous historic sites, travel along Church Street and into Church Square with its interesting Historic buildings. Included in the tour is a visit to Kruger House, the Union Buildings and the Voortrekker Monument. Or - Johannesburg and Soweto, visit FancourtMuseum Africa, Hillbrow, a fleamarket, Montecasino and the view point before heading to Soweto, the world famous black township. Experience the diversity of the people and cultures, visit former President Mandela's home, Hector Peterson memorial, Regina Mundi Catholic Church and other interesting stops. While driving through informal settlements, your guide will entertain you with stories, facts and myths.

Day 4: Sunday 27th January
Golf at Irene Country Club; one of the most attractive golf courses imaginable with a rural, peaceful atmosphere. The course is challenging and well kept, a favourite haunt for many Gauteng golfers wanting 'to get away from it all'.

Day 5: Monday 28th January Golf at Centurion Golf Club; an exciting and challenging golf course offering the player three different themes in one round; a thorny bushveld area, a desert area as well as holes around the three hectare lake and the Hennops River which runs through the course.

Day 6: Tuesday 29th January
Depart from Irene and transfer to Johannesburg Airport for a short flight to Durban. On arrival, transfer to Selborne Spa and Golf Estate in Pennington, a 40 minutes drive south of Durban. Selborne was created from a family owned dairy stud farm in 1985 with the intent to preserve the rich flora and fauna surrounding the manor house and now offers unequalled natural beauty and tranquillity. Balance of the day at leisure. 6 nights at Selborne Spa and Golf Estate including breakfast.

Pretoria City HallDay 7: Wednesday 30th January
Golf at Selborne Golf Course; rated as one of the top ten courses in South Africa – built on natural undulating terrain with superb views of the countryside and the sea.

Day 8: Thursday 31st January
Golf at Umdoni; designed by Sid Brews, this 18 hole course is one of the hidden treasures of the South Coast. The course is situated in 200 hectares of indigenous coastal forest and is renowned for its magnificent sea views and abundance of fauna and flora.

Day 9: Friday 1st February

Day 10: Saturday 2nd February
Full day tour to include Durban city and the Valley of a 1000 Hills. The drive will take you through the sports corridor with its impressive sporting facilities to the Blue Lagoon on the Umgeni River - enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of Durban bay. Continue past the so-called Apartheid Beaches, the Marine Parade (Golden Mile) see the colourful rickshaws, en route to the impressive developments at the new Point Waterfront area. We drive past the busiest harbour in Africa and various historical monuments, through the city centre where the second railway station, the City Hall and the Post Office buildings each have a story to tell. We stop at the Indian Market for a glimpse into the Indian culture, try bargaining for souvenirs and perhaps bring back some exotic spices. We visit the Botanical Gardens with its extensive collection of trees and plants from all over the world, as well as a famous cycad collection and orchid garden. After lunch we venture out of Durban and to The Valley of a Thousand Hills, an exceptionally scenic hilly area west of Durban. Taking a scenic drive to the impressive Valley of a 1000 Hills, visit the Sangoma and enjoy the Zulu dancing and cultural demonstrations. Time permitting we visit the crocodile farm and snake park before returning to Durban. We return to Selborne late afternoon.

IreneDay 11: Sunday 3rd February
Golf at Durban Country Club; playing the Country Club course is an unforgettable experience for golfers of all handicaps. It has become one of Durban city's icons and a must play for visitors.

Day 12: Monday 4th February
Depart Selborne for Durban Airport and fly to George. On arrival, you will be transferred to Fancourt Hotel & Country Club for a five nights stay. A combination of Old World charm and contemporary luxuries makes the Fancourt Hotel so distinctive and one of the most sort after golfing venues in South Africa. Located in the town of George at the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains. The estate houses four golf courses, all renowned for their amazing year round conditions. Afternoon is at leisure. 5 nights at Fancourt Hotel and Country Club including breakfast.

Day 13: Tuesday 5th February
Golf on the Outeniqua course; the Outeniqua is a majestic 18-hole Parkland layout designed by legendary Grand Slam golfer Gary Player. It is similar in character to The Montague and its challenging design and fine conditioning will ensure an excellent test for all levels of golfers.

Day 14: Wednesday 6th February
Golf on the Montague course; the Montague is a much celebrated parkland course and has been ranked as the number-one golf course in South Africa in the past. It has recently undergone major renovations with several holes being redesigned and has two completely new holes – the 1st and the 9th.

Day 15: Thursday 7th February
Full day tour to Botlierskop. Botlierskop is a well stocked, free roaming private game reserve, which gives visitors the opportunity to view African wildlife from the safety of 4x4 vehicles, in its natural habitat.

Day 16: Friday 8th February
Golf at Oubaai; Oubaai promises a golfing experience comparable to the best the world has to offer. Bordered by a river valley, the clear, warm water of the Indian Ocean and woodlands, Oubaai presents the perfect site for this championship golf course.

Le FranschhoekDay 17: Saturday 9th February
Today we make our way from George, along the Garden Route to Franschhoek, stopping at Swellendam for lunch before continuing to the Le Franschhoek Hotel. Le Franchhoek offers unparalleled views of the spectacular Franschhoek Mountains and is located on the site of one of Franschhoek's original country retreats surrounded by vineyards. Balance of the day at leisure. 4 nights at Le Franschhoek including breakfast.

Day 18: Sunday 10th February
Golf at Pearl Valley; nestled amongst the rugged beauty of the Drakenstein Mountains, designed by Jack Nicklaus and one of the ‘Bear’s Best’ courses.

Day 19: Monday 11th February
Full day tour of the West Coast; visiting the Ostrich ranch and the small towns of Riebeek Kasteel, Moreesburg and across the wheat farming area of the Swartland. Lunch at the Strandkombuis at Langebaan - a rustic, open-air beach restaurant set in protective dune bush. There is an opportunity to visit the West Coast Fossil Park. In the afternoon drive back via the old lime kilns and through another historic farming town of Darling before we return to Franschhoek.

Day 20: Tuesday 12th February
Golf at Boschenmeer; nestled at the foothills of the Paarl berg and adjacent to the meandering Berg River, this Paarl Golf Course is situated in the heart of one of South Africa 's finest wine producing regions.

Day 21: Wednesday 13th February
Today we make our way to Cape Town, we will be spending seven nights at The Vineyard Hotel situated in the leafy suburb of Newlands. The hotel is set in 6 acres of beautiful gardens with spectacular mountain views, offering a peaceful relaxed atmosphere, yet only a 15 minutes drive from the city centre. The hotel has a state of the art spa and gym as well as two swimming pools (one heated). 7 nights at the Vineyard Hotel including breakfast.

Day 22: Thursday 14th February
Golf at Milnerton Golf Course; surrounded by natural beauty, the course is a pleasure to the senses and a challenge to even the most experienced golfer. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the RietVlei River, this lush links-type course is relatively flat with few trees.

Day 23: Friday 15th February
Golf at Westlake Golf Course; designed by Arthur Hills, one of the prominent golf course designers in the world, known for integrating challenging and enjoyable courses within the natural beauty of the landscape. The rolling terrain along with the strategic layout that features multiple tees and generous landing areas will appeal to players of all abilities.

VineyardDay 24: Saturday 16th February
Full day tour to Hermanus. We travel into the Overberg region via spectacular Sir Lowry’s Pass which offers stunning views of False Bay. Once in Hermanus we take the scenic drive along The Rotary Drive, high up over Hermanus. From here you’ll be able to take wonderful photographs of Walker Bay. Take a stroll along the cliffs, through the craft markets and Art Galleries. After a leisurely lunch we head back towards Cape Town along an unforgettable coastal drive.

Day 25: Sunday 17th February

Day 26: Monday 18th February
Golf at Mowbray; set at the foot of Table Mountain, Mowbray Golf Club is renowned for its breathtaking views, lush fairways and immaculate greens. There is a variety and abundance of birdlife around the water features and fairways are bordered by tall pines and indigenous trees.

Day 27: Monday 19th February
Golf at Clovelly Country Club; an attractive undulating course on the east side of the Peninsula, with beautiful views of the mountains and ocean. Evening farewell dinner.

Day 28: Tuesday 20th February
Most of the day is free to relax, late afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.

Day 29: Wednesday 21st February
Arrive London Heathrow
