by your private guide, there is time for a quick refreshment and visit
to the local shops before heading out to Moremi Game Reserve by road.
The trip is approximately 3 hours and after one hour you will be in a
wildlife area so you can enjoy a scenic game drive through to your private
campsite in the Khwai community area bordering Moremi Game Reserve. On
arrival the guide and camp assistant set up camp as you relax with a
drink and adjust to the sights and sounds of the bush. Accommodation
is in spacious dome tents with bedrolls (mattress, pillow, sheets and
duvet/blankets) and a bush shower & toilet is erected.
Moremi Game
Reserve is one of the prime wildlife areas in Southern Africa, hosting
a wide range of habitats from open savannahs to dense mopane forests.
Wildlife to be found in the area includes lion, leopard, wild dog, giraffe,
zebra, elephant, impalas and much more. Yourr days will be spent exploring
this rich and rewarding area, returning to camp for siesta and meals.
One of the benefits of camping just outside the park is the additional
activities we can enjoy, including a guided walk, which offers a welcome
leg stretch, and the opportunity for a night drive or just the flexibility
of returning to camp after sunset. In addition you will enjoy a day trip
to the Xakanaxa area where we go motorboating up through the waterways
and lagoons of the Okavango Delta, a birder's paradise.
In the evenings,
return to camp to enjoy a hearty dinner cooked over an open fire and
after dinner it is time to relax around the dancing flames and glowing
embers of the campfire. All meals, drinks, national park fees and activities
are included whilst camping.
Days 5 & 6: Savute area/Chobe National
Park Depart camp early and drive up through the Mababe Gate to Chobe
National Park, the drive is taken at a leisurely pace and the change
in landscape is fascinating. Upon arrival in Savute your guide and camp
assistant again set up camp whilst you relax with refreshments and enjoy
the contrast of the Savute landscape. This afternoon and the following
day will be exploring the dynamic Savute area where the vegetation and
wildlife changes through the seasons. The Savute Channel has been dry
for many years but a series of waterholes & pans provide water for
the wildlife that migrates through the area. ‘Sundowners’ at
the pans in Savute can be a real event as the elephants, antelope and
lions vie for access to the pans to quench their thirst as well. All
meals, drinks, national park fees and activities are included whilst
camping.
Days 7 & 8: Chobe River area/Chobe National Park After
breakfast drive through the Chobe National Park to Kasane, approximately
5 hours from Savute with game viewing en-route – the landscape
changes as you travel north toward the permanent water supply of the
Chobe River.
Camp is set up on arrival - spend the next two days exploring
the northern parts of Chobe National Park. Game activities will be taken
privately which include a Chobe River cruise and game drive in Chobe
National Park . This area of Chobe is famous for it's large elephant
population and game viewing is excellent along the river, particularly
in the drier months when water is scarce in areas away from the river.
In addition to elephants, hippos and crocodiles, you may see large buffalo
herds or encounter the resident lion pride and very friendly warthogs
amongst other animal and birdlife. All meals, drinks, national park fees
and activities are included whilst camping.
Days 9, 10 & 11: Zambezi
Sun, Livingstone/Victoria Falls After breakfast and an early morning
game drive you will drive to the Kazungula border crossing to depart
Botswana and enter Zambia across the Kazungula Ferry (a true African
experience) where you will be introduced to a Bushtracks representative
who will assist you through Zambian customs (including the visa waiver)
and drive you through to the Zambezi Sun in Livingstone (the private
guiding ends and he will return to Maun).
The Zambezi Sun is a family
