Day 1Arrive in DelhiMeet and assist on arrival and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities. Day 2Delhi- UdaipurUpon Arrival Transfer to the Hotel . Udaipur is a centre of historic arts and crafts of Mewar, like the Mewar School of Miniature Painting. There is of course the modern face of Udaipur that one can look at, if interested, but given the other sights from a glorious past modernity is no real distraction. This is a place that will hold you in its thrall no matter who you are or where you come from. Day 3Ajmer (Pushkar)Today, drive to Ajmer - one of the most important centers of pilgrimage for India’s Muslims. The great Sufi saint Khwaja Mu’inuddin Chishti (1143-1235) is buried at the Dargah Sharif in Ajmer. It is said that a visit to his shrine will fulfill a devotee’s wish. We also visit the mosques, pavilions and gateways now surrounding the mausoleum. In particular, we see the Arhai-din-ka Jhonpra, built in 1155; it is one of the finest monuments of medieval India Day 4JaipurDrive 138 kms, 3.5 hours to Jaipur this morning. The capital of the state of Rajasthan is popularly known as the 'pink city' as the buildings in its old, walled city are all constructed in pink-colored sandstone. Jaipur owes its name, its foundation and its careful planning to the great warrior-astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh II (1699-1744). He laid out the city with its surrounding walls and six rectangular blocks by principles of town planning set out in an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture. In 1728 he constructed the remarkable observatory, which is still one of Jaipur's central attractions. It is worthwhile spending any leisure time wandering through the bazaars. Jaipur is well known for its beautiful carpets, enamelled ornaments, precious and semi-precious stones, brass ornaments and many other arts and craftsArrive Jaipur in the evening and relax in the hotel by the poolside recovering from the long drive. Day 5In JaipurThis morning you will drive 11kms in the outskirts of the city to visit Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the State until 1728. Visit the Temple of Kali, the Hall of Victory or Jai Mahal and Jagmandir. You can have the unique experience of traveling on elephant back to and from the top of the hill on which the fort is situated. Rest of the day is free to explore the colorful town independently. Spend time in crowded lanes & by lanes of pink city, haggling and souvenir-hunting. In the afternoon visit the Observatory, the Palace of Winds and the City Palace and Museum. The museum has an interesting textile section, which contains dresses and costumes of the former Maharajas and Maharanis of Jaipur. Return to the hotel for overnight stay. Day 6AgraThis morning you will drive towards Agra. Enroute stop at Fatehpur Sikri, 18 kms from the park and only a 15 minutes drive. This was the capital city of Akbar but was abandoned later due to scarcity of water. This complex in red sandstone is considered to be more beautiful than TAJ MAHAL by many visitors. Then continue your drive of approximately 45 min. to Agra. In Agra unwind in the hotel by the poolside after a hectic and long drive. Day 7In AgraThis morning proceed for a sightseeing tour of the city visiting the red sandstone Agra Fort, which stands like a crescent on the banks of the Jamuna River enclosed by forbidding 20-meter high walls, with a 12- meter moat between them. Three successive Mughal emperors - Akbar, Jehangir and Shah Jehan - helped create this massive structure which contains Hindu and Muslim architecture. Then proceed for the famous white marble mausoleum, which was built in the middle of the 17th century by the Moghul emperor Shah Jehan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal The Taj Mahal surely the greatest monument to love and one of the wonders of the modern world. Completed in 1652, skilled craftsmen from Persia, Turkey, France and Italy. Day 8Agra - CorbettThis morning you will drive to Corbett. Enjoy your stay in the resort with the river flowing nearby.. Day 9Camp to LohachaurEarly morning drive a short distance to park’s entrance to meet with the Elephants and Mahouts and start safari riding through some excellent patches of fern lade n moist sub tropical forest of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. There will be ample opportunity to encounter variety of wildlife and birdlife in their natural habitat during the journey. Stop for lunch at the confluence of Ramganga and Mandal rivers. After a brief break continue safari riding along Mandal valley to the campsite which is an old forest rest house a relic of British Raj built in early 1900's. Dinner and overnight is at Forest Rest House / Mobile Camp Day 10In LohachaurEarly morning continue safari riding along the Mandal Valley to observe wildlife, bird life and bionetwork of the area. Return to camp for breakfast. Later drive to the Ramganga river for angling the mighty Mahaseer to which legendary Jim Corbett chose to say "he Fish of his Dream". This fighter pose a great challenge to anglers thus makes it the finest trophy of sport fishing. Other prominent species found in this water includes Goonch and Indian Trout. Day 11In LohachaurEarly morning explore the forest on elephant back for game viewing. Lohachaur is extreme rich with birdlife. Return to camp for breakfast. Later in the morning learn to ride elephant that involves learning and communicating at least basic commands with the elephant. Lunch is at camp. Afternoon explore the surrounding forest on elephant back. Dinner and overnight is at Forest Rest House/Mobile Camp. Day 12Corbett – Dehli by surfaceBid goodbye to the Elephants, Mahouts, Naturalist and the rest of the team in the morning and drive 295 kms / 7 hrs to Delhi. Day 13In DehliAfter breakfast, morning sightseeing of Old Delhi takes you to Jama Masjid, - the largest mosque in India. Visit the magnificent Red Fort, - a marvel in red sandstone, built on the banks of River Yamuna by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Then, visit Raj Ghat (Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial). In the afternoon, proceed for sightseeing of New Delhi. Visit the 12th century Qutab Minar, gracefully hand-carved for its entire height of 234ft. Visit the mausoleum of emperor Humayun - a forerunner of the Mughal style of architecture. Drive past the India Gate (World War I memorial), The President's Residence, Parliament House and the Secretariat buildings - an interesting blend of the Victorian and 20th century architecture. Day 14Depart DehliIn time, transfer to the airport to connect your flight for onward destination. - End of the tour |
